I am very passionate about project management. My experience has been limited to the construction industry as my background is in architecture but I am looking forward to using these skills in a different field.

MBA

What led to your interest in business?

I come from a business background. My father owns a small grocery shop back in Mauritius and I grew up helping him in the business throughout my studies. After a few working years in the UK and Los Angeles, I felt that there was a lack of skills in my education portfolio. This prompted me to pursue an MBA.

Why did you decide to join BSL?

Before leaving the United States, I was looking for a reputable business school. The Business degree at BSL was the one that attracted me the most as it was everything I was looking for: small classes, diverse students and a reputable school.

Business School Lausanne’s strength lies in having small classes of no more than twenty students. As a student, it is very important to me to have a good connection with my teachers and peers. It also creates a very intimate and close-knit community in the classroom and we, as students, are viewed as individuals.

How has your experience been so far?

So far, it has been really great. The teachers bring a wealth of knowledge and experience. What is different at BSL is that learning is done through an interactive process, not only through lectures. It gives us the opportunity to challenge the teachers and each other and make learning fun!

What are you passionate about? How will you bring your passion to your work in the future?

I am very passionate about project management. My experience has been limited to the construction industry as my background is in architecture. But I am looking forward to using these skills in a different field, such as in the finance and corporate world. I am also looking forward to working with the values I am learning at BSL to make the world a better place. Believing in the power of one – that is one of the key aspects I would like to bring from BSL to the world.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be an architect. This led me to follow my dreams and leave Mauritius to study Architecture in London. After working a few years in the industry, I realized that I enjoyed interacting with people and the construction aspects more than the design aspect. This led me to a new passion: project management and ultimately to me pursuing a business degree.

Who or what inspires you?

The one person who inspires me to do better is my father. Growing up in Mauritius without a formal education, he overcame many obstacles and became a respectable businessman. He motivates me to do more with my life every day.

How do you see your professional future in 5 years from now? What will you be doing?

I am hoping in 5 years I will be back in the United States and firmly established in a company doing consulting work in the construction industry, where I can apply the sustainable business skills I will have learned through the BSL program

If you could make one significant change to the world, what would it be?

Believe in the value of doing good for others. Today we are becoming more and more competitive and people are using any means to have the upper hand. We tend to forget that we are still human beings and we need to help each other. I sincerely believe in helping others in achieving their goals while achieving mine.
