Day 1 – Monday 06.Nov.2023 – 09h00

The Business Innovation Weeks (BIW) are now an engrained landmark within BSL’s educational model for its Bachelor and Master students. The overall goal of the BIW is to allow our students to become their own teachers; to identify what burning business topics they are interested in learning more about outside of the curricula and classroom. Not only is the Business Innovation Week is a great way to end each term, it is also a fantastic way to allow the minds of today to absorb knowledge from industry experts which they might not otherwise receive.

The first BIW of each academic year is about opening and broadening young minds, preparing our students to think of their upcoming BIWs in advance. Students are given the opportunity to develop an idea / topic of interest, to build upon it, to prepare & present it, only for it to be voted on by the student body as a potential topic for future BIWs. This out-of-the-box thinking is ever so necessary for our students are more often than not, these topics are close to heart; they need to be well structured and thought out as ultimately, it is about convincing one another why their idea/topic is necessary to learn and build upon. A great example of this was when Automation & AI was introduced as a topic of interest (among many others) back in November 2022, before the public release of ChatGPT.

The goal of this week is to set each student up with the tools, framework and mindset that they are masters of their learning and that this unique opportunity is given to them, in an academic setting, (yes, the BIW are worth 2.5 academic credits!), with freedoms allowing them to develop a coherent, relevant setting through soundboarding with their peers.

I for one am excited to see what topics are to follow and this blog space will hopefully help capture the set spaces, mindsets and insights that each student group has. So Stay Tuned!
