What led to your interest in business?
Over the past few years before I joined BSL, I realized that my academic and work experience had continuously built my passion for business. Eager to know more about my favourite subjects such as International Economics, Marketing Planning, and Law and Finance, I decided that business was the right choice.
Why did you decide to join BSL?
I have always found that global warming was an important issue that I wish to fight in my professional career and luckily BSL has a strong sustainability oriented atmosphere.
I decided to choose BSL for a specific reason; not only is it a great school, but it nurtures a strong family atmosphere. The bonds students create between each other and with their professors cannot be found anywhere else.
How has your experience been so far?
Since I walked through the main entrance on my first day, I felt very welcomed. Not only are the classes and professors interesting, but the student body is international. The mix of different cultures makes the school what it is today. Needless to say, my experience at BSL has been fantastic.
What are you passionate about? How will you bring your passion to your work in the future?
I have always loved debating, which is why I have attended different debate competitions throughout the years. I find this skill very useful when I find myself debating on a subject I have strong beliefs about in a classroom or amongst friends. Debating will help me throughout my professional career in order for me to fight for what I believe is right and ethical in the social, economic, and environmental world.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I was always interested in the corporate life, however one profession in particular always drove my academic and professional career, law. I always wanted to work for a large corporation in the United States or in Asia that would fight global warming and protect the environment.
Who or what inspires you?
There are many people who inspire me, however if I had to choose one person, I would say Nelson Mandela. I believe that if one wants to make a change in the world or simply his or her life, one needs to fight for it. Nelson Mandela spent 20 years in prison for his opposition to apartheid as he believed in justice, equality and freedom. After struggling for years, he finally became the President of democratic South Africa.
How do you see your professional future in 5 years from now? What will you be doing?
I hope to have finished my masters and to be working for a US corporation with the goal to protect the environment from global warming.
If you could make one significant change to the world, what would it be?
If I could make one change, I would say gender equality. My view of equality, however, is not feminist. I believe that men should be able to cry, show weakness, or that a dad can be considered as important as a mother when it comes to raising a child. I also believe that equality will be possible the day double standards disappear. I believe that men and women should be paid and treated the same way. My dream would be make this one significant change in order to change our entire view on this issue.
