BSL is pleased to announce that we have been selected as one of 40 business schools globally to join the PRME Champions Business Schools initiative. Over the next two years we will collaborate with other Champions around the world. The UN PRME Champions program’s mission is to contribute to thought and action leadership on responsible management education in the context of the United Nations sustainable development agenda. As a collective, the Champions group are expected to work collaboratively to achieve higher levels of performance in transforming business and management education in five key areas: curricula, research, educational frameworks, sustainability-based partnerships, and thought leadership.
Together with the rest of the Champions group, BSL will be expected to serve the broader PRME community through active engagement with existing PRME Chapters and PRME Working Groups among others, as well as support broader and deeper implementation of sustainability principles in the institutional context of the PRME initiative.
Being recognized and chosen for the Champions group is not only an honor but it also affords BSL specific privileges. As a designated Champion, we will be widely received as thought leaders in the responsible management community, helping to develop what PRME are calling ‘game changing’ projects. We will also be given the opportunity to collaborate with leading HEIs and Global Compact companies on strategic projects. And of course, BSL will act as an ambassador institution of PRME.
The appointment to the Champions Business Schools community will also give BSL unprecedented access for both students and faculty members. We will be able to hear directly from, and interact with, companies and their representatives on priority sustainability-related issues through Global Compact meetings. BSL students can also look forward to preferred inclusion for internships and volunteer opportunities with the PRME Secretariat and Global Compact.
We are excited to get started and look forward to working within the Champions group on projects that respond to systemic challenges faced by the PRME community, as well as to key issues identified by the UN.
What is PRME: The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) is a United Nations-supported initiative founded in 2007 as a platform to raise the profile of sustainability in schools around the world, and to equip today’s business students with the understanding and ability to deliver change tomorrow. As a voluntary initiative with over 650 signatories worldwide, PRME has become the largest organised relationship between the United Nations and management-related higher education institutions. Working through a set of Six Principles, PRME engages business and management schools to ensure they provide future leaders with the skills needed to balance economic and sustainability goals, while drawing attention to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aligning academic institutions with the work of the UN Global Compact.
