Eleni Vogiatzi, Greek, is a participant in the BSL Executive MBA class of 2014. She decided to study business since it’s “ever-evolving, dynamic and full of energy.” Eleni feels that the world of business “challenges your mind to come up with bigger and better solutions every day.”
What are you passionate about?
Stretching my limits. It is never a question of “can I do it?”, it is a question of “when do I do it?”. From doing sports to sky diving to the professional world. This passion has always been supported by my friends and my family; it must be in the genes! Lately, I prioritize travelling, experiencing different cultures, seeing new places and forming my own opinion about the world. My biggest passion though, to be honest, are my adorable nieces!
How would you describe your BSL experience so far?
Nothing short of engaging. Before starting an EMBA program, you know that you are signing in for new learning, broadening your business understanding, and a lot of work. But nothing prepares you for one of the most engaging experiences. The studying process, the lively conversations in class, the new people you interact with, and the exchange of ideas are the reasons that keep you going in early mornings and late nights. You also experience tiredness, but the fact that you keep going to the next class with more excitement every time is a sign that there’s a lot of fun too.
What makes studying at BSL different?
When I first contacted BSL to get some information about the EMBA, I was impressed by how approachable everyone was. Their excitement for welcoming new students and the focus on building diversity really grabbed my attention. Everyone was kind and gave the feeling of a team that strives to achieve their goals. Having gone through the 1st Semester now, I see these attributes in the teaching methods as well. And what I appreciate the most is the professors’ high expectations – there is nothing better than getting a push to perform at your best.
If there is one significant change you could accomplish in the world, what would it be?
For me there is nothing more important than ensuring a safe and happy environment for children. If only all children were healthy and happy and there were no men, no women living in poverty.
What are the most important values today’s leaders should have?
Leaders must be able to earn respect, lead by example, and demonstrate integrity.

Tell us one personal story that is truly relevant to your BSL experience.
I remember the very first course we did – Advanced Communication & Cooperation Skills with Prof. Claudia Kranefuss. I was amazed to learn that people use different communication styles depending on their personalities, and this has a direct impact on their working style too! Before, I thought I was an over-energized Greek, now I know I am a “promoter” type!
